John Viaes' Ten Favorite Disney Villains

John Viaes- Disney has always had great villains, whether it would be in their movies or shows. This is my top ten list of my favorite Disney and Pixar villains. This list contains spoilers, but who hasn’t seen any of these movies? There’s so much more I want to add to this list, but ten will have to do. :)

10. Syndrome (The Incredibles)

The first time I saw The Incredibles in the theater, I found it mind-boggling that a super villain wants to kill off all superheros so he can be a superhero. I like in the beginning where he tries begging and begging Mr. Incredible to be his sidekick, IncrediBoy, even by showing off what he can do. Holding a grudge like that for fifteen years is pretty bad. I also like how he creates a robot just to lure Mr. I into his trap. This guy is a pure genius. He’s very different from other villains and certainly has his place on this list.

9. Shere Khan (The Jungle Book)

Shere Khan the tiger makes this list because I like how he just has to show himself and stay calm just to scare the other animals of the jungle. He is very good at hiding what he really wants, but as soon as Mowgli starts talking back to him, he looses it. Then you really see him freak out when Mowgli ties his tail to a tree branch set on fire.

8. Maleficient (Sleeping Beauty)

She’s considered to be the greatest Disney villain of all time and I can see why. I love the way she makes an appearance in the beginning when the new Princess Aurora receives her gifts from the three fairies. I also love her reaction when her henchman tell her they’ve been searching every cradle for sixteen years. She starts laughing, then gets angry. Every time fire jumps out of her back, you know it’s going down.

7. Dr. Facilier (The Princess & the Frog)

He’s a witch docter. How can you go wrong? He’s much similar to Hades from Hercules in terms of making deals that the other person regrets. His musical number, “Friends On the Other Side” is wonderful. I love the dark tone put into the song to bring out the villain in him. Shadow Man being pulled into the voodoo world in the end is amazing as well.

6. Scar (The Lion King)

Scar is pure evil. He kills his own brother, Mufasa, in order to be in his spot as king of Pride Rock. That scene still startles me to this day. He ruins Pride Rock, causing starvation to the other lions. His hyena henchmen are hilarious, his song “Be Prepared” is awesome, and he gets what he truly deserves in the climactic battle between him and Simba at the end of the movie.

5. Madam Medusa (The Rescuers)

I absolutely hated this women when I was a kid. She makes the list because she kidnaps  a little girl in order to get some giant diamond stuck in a well. And she throws a fit every time little Penny runs away, leaving her henchman, Mr. Snoops and her pet alligators to go after her. She treats everyone she meets like dirt, especially Penny and Snoops. She even goes as far as stealing Penny’s teddy bear, yet she’s afraid of mice. I’m always laughing the first time she sees Bernard and Bianca. It’s priceless.

4. Hopper (A Bug’s Life)

Worse than Medusa, he thinks he’s supreme ruler of Ant Island, forcing every ant to serve food for him and the grasshoppers. He talks down to Flik and his friends as they’re worthless and as if they are only here to serve grasshoppers. I also love every part when his brother gets on his nerves. He soon gets what he deserves in the end…gets eaten by a bird!

3. Judge Claude Frollo (The Hunchback of Notre Dame)

This guy is pure evil. He almost tries to drown Quasimodo as a baby, he burns down houses, and keeps Quasimodo locked up for years. He also threatens to kill Esmerelda if she doesn’t give him what he really wants (I don’t even have to say it, watch the movie). If that doesn’t say “cruel” I don’t know what will.

2. Cruella DeVil (101 Dalmatians)

Everyone knows what she’s all about. Kidnapping ninety-nine puppies, and wanting to kill them and turn them into fur coats. When they escape, she stops at nothing to get them back, even going as far as to push a moving truck off the side of a cliff with her own car. “Cruel” really does fit in with her name “Cruella DeVil.” Her henchmen, Horace & Jasper, leave me laughing all the time. The song written about this woman describes every single detail about her.

1. Jafar (Aladdin)

Everyone knows what Jafar’s all about. He wants to be marry Princess Jasmine, just so he can be sultan. He and his parrot, Iago are a barrel of laughs no matter what they do. He dresses up as an old man to set Aladdin free and to bring him into the cave of wonders. As soon as Aladdin brings him the lamp, he takes it and throws Aladdin off the cliff. As soon as he finds out that he escaped the cave, he steals the lamp and uses it for his own desire. I love in the end when he wishes to be an all powerful genie, he then gets sucked into his lamp. Eventually, in the sequel, The Return of Jafar, he’s set free, but then the lamp gets destroyed, destroying Jafar.
